SUMMER FISHING CONTEST 2011/2012
                                      
                    CONTEST RULES
 
The contest starts on Saturday 1st October 2011 and ends Saturday 31st March 2012.
 
The following days will be excluded;
·         Christmas Day
·         Any other day, the Club is running another Fishing Contest.
 
Eligibility:
Entry is for Club members only, and is free of charge.
Membership card must be presented at the weigh station
 
Prizes:
The contest is for Kahawai, Snapper and Gurnard.
Prizes will be awarded to the heaviest in each species for each month of the six month contest

 

Skipper’s responsibility:
The Skipper is responsible for properly equipping the boat and for the safe operation of the boat and the safety of all on board.
The Skipper is responsible for ensuring compliance with Maritime Safety Rules and Standards, Manawatu River and Tributaries Navigation and Safety Bylaws 2010 and MAF Recreational Fishing Regulations.
The Skipper is responsible for ensuring that all crew are aware and accept the contest rules.
Your accepted registration into the contest is confirmation that you and your crew have read and accept the contest rules and conditions.
(Boats and equipment maybe scrutinized at the contest organizers discretion)
                            
Boundary :          Boaties:   Fishing must be north of the Ohau River (S40° 39.70’) and south of the Rangitikei River mouth (S40° 16.78’).
                           Kontikis and surf casters:   Beach area same as for boaties.
 
Fishing MethodsAll legal fishing methods excluding nets
 
Fish sizes:           For conservation reasons, a voluntary minimum size is being introduced:
                           Snapper, Gurnard and Red Cod        350mm length
                                  Kahawai                                      450mm length
 
Weigh In:            The weighing will take place at the MMBC Clubhouse. 
          If you have a fish to weigh call for a Weigh master on channel 77
         
No fish are to be taken into the Clubrooms.                         Do not gut, gill or bleed fish.
 
Weigh station staff may cut or gut after weighing to confirm fish has been weighed or if tampering is suspected.
 
Each fish may be weighed only once. If you dispute the weight, state this while the fish is on the scales, the staff will check their reading/recording and their decision will become final.
 
Any tampering detected will result in immediate disqualification of the boat and its crew from the contest.
 
          Undersized fish will not be weighed and Fishery Inspectors could be present.  MAF Regulations for the quantity of fish apply.
 
In the event of a tie, the first fish weighed will be deemed the winner.
 
 
Amendments, alterations & notices: Any important notices, amendments or alterations to these rules will be posted on notice board in the Clubrooms, published in the next Club magazine, and on the website. 
 
 
The decision of the contest organizers will be final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into.

ALL ENTRANTS AND BOAT OWNERS PARTICIPATE AT THEIR OWN RISK. THE MANAWATU MARINE BOATING CLUB, EVENT ORGANISERS, PROMOTERS AND SPONSORS ACCEPT ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSIBLITY IN ANY RESPECT FOR INJURY, LOSS OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY, REGARDLESS OF THE CAUSE.
