Fishing Coordinator’s Report January 2023

The weather was kind to us in the morning so 65 boats with 213 keen anglers on board ventured out to sea. Conditions chopped up by lunchtime so many of us came back early without our usual plentiful catch. There were prizes for the heaviest catch in each of the snapper, gurnard and kahawai categories but only one trevally caught in the featured species.

It was a fun prize giving and Lyal did a fantastic job as MC. Brendan’s nautical ‘money or the bag” game kept people engaged and amused. Many thanks to all our sponsors, volunteers and willing participants. It was a great night and so good to see the boat club full to the gunnels again. See you all at Waitangi weekend – Saturday the 4th for the next in the SuperQuad and Sunday the 5th for the Kids Fishing at the wharf. Happy days.
