Fishy Business 2025/2026

It has been a slow start to the fishing season with the persistent northwest wind still blowing. We are starting to get the odd, nice day like Sunday and Monday last week the 9th/10th November with the fishing a bit slow. I fished the Monday and picked up some nice snapper but had to be fairly patient with a good load of burley used.

Water temp is increasing at 16.5 degrees with some fishermen already on the troll for big tuna, let’s hope we have a season like last year with the return of the marlin.
I will be getting some outriggers fitted in the next couple weeks so if you need any advice on these, I can point you in the right direction.

New bar markers are installed thanks to the coastguard; they are very accurate in terms of the location and direction of the channel. Just line the 2 markers up when crossing, the bar has moved south in a southwest direction. There is good depth to the bar throughout the channel which is great for the bigger boats.

2026 MMBC competitions

Next year we are not running the quad series, we are a bit short handed with volunteers on the committee, the quad series is a lot of work so we have opted for a simpler operation next year.
